'The district offered the community various opportunities through the facility master planning process to have a voice in Triway’s future,' Schindwolf noted.ĭuring a recent performance audit, Schindewolf said, 'Closing the building has been found by the auditor of state to be the most fiscally responsible decision for the district, as it is not financially sound to continue to operate a school of this size.' '(It) is a result of cumulative data gathered over several years that includes increased district-wide costs of maintaining aging buildings, declining enrollment and complying with state recommended building sizes,' said Schindewolf in an email outlining the background for Franklin's closure. The closing of Franklin is one of the first decisions to be made in the district's re-envisioning process which began a little over a year ago in November of 2017, when Schindewolf announced a strategic plan to be developed for the district impacting Triway’s future through the next century.
